Stars and Make-Believe: Doing Astrocartography Amidst Global Displacement

kL Mays and Alice Sparkly Kat lead a workshop about mapping out the places that you are attached to using star maps. We will research our own natal star maps and folklore associated with our angular stars, learn to read constellations by paran, and map out our stars in relation to other participants in a simple game of make-believe. 

Today, fundamentalism reduces religion to the hyper-individual veneration of ancient texts and commodification reduces religion to speculative fictions about time and place. However, spirituality and divination are about holding memories and observing the living world together with other people. The technique of reading astrological charts by paran is the technique of studying the relational movements of the stars and planets. We will learn how to use parans to map the changing relationships in our lives with the goal of seeing what more is possible in those relationships.
